At least 3 killed as post-poll violence continues in Madhya Pradesh: Reports

Several incidents of post-poll violence were reported in different regions of Madhya Pradesh on Monday that began on 18 November — voting day. Arson and rioting have led to the death of three in Chakrampur village of Pohri constituency in Shivpuri district.

It is said that during the elections there was a dispute between BJP and Congress regarding fake votes.

On Sunday, the fights turned extremely violent as vehicles and houses were set on fire. While one person got killed on the spot the remaining two injured were admitted to Gwalior Hospital, where they succumbed.

Police have so far arrested 14 people in this case.

Meanwhile, a major scuffle was reported in Sardarpur of Dhar district.

Earlier on Friday, a Congress leader was crushed to death in Rajnagar by vehicles linked to a convoy of BJP candidate Arvind Pateriya when he was accompanying Congress candidate Vikram Singh Natiraja just three hours before polling. 34-year-old Salman Khan was a former councillor from the Khajuraho municipality, serving as the state secretary (sports cell) of his party.

The BJP candidate has been named in the FIR on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Besides, over 30 FIRs were lodged on poll day violence. Since then, both parties have complained to the Election Commission of India.
