“Gaza will be plunged into famine,” warns Gaza government

The humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave has worsened significantly, said Gaza’s government.

“Shops and markets now have no basic food items, including flour, rice and canned foods,”Gaza government’s media office on Monday issued a statement.

Bakeries have also been bombed by Israel.

There are growing fears that Gaza will be plunged into famine and disease will spread more quickly as the number of displaced people has caused overcrowding, said the authorities.

Cold weather and rain have made the situation unbearable for displaced Palestinians, with most of them unequipped for the winter months.

The media office said that they hold the “international community and Israel responsible for stopping the massacres”.

They also called on international organisations and world bodies to stop the “deliberate starvation” of Palestinians.

More than 13,000 people killed in Gaza since Israeli bombardment began on October 7.
