Gaza hospitals in dire situation after Israel massacres dozens awaiting aid

After dozens of starving Palestinians were killed and injured as Israeli forces opened fire on them while waiting for food from an aid delivery truck in the south of Gaza City, the last and only functioning hospitals face a deep crisis.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, at least 112 Palestinians were killed and 760 others were injured in Thursday’s “horrific massacre”.

In a video circulating online, an aid delivery truck is seen transporting the dead and injured instead.

“We received today about 300 injured and 20 dead, most of whom were victims of the massacre perpetrated by the Israeli occupation while they were awaiting aid,” Mustafa Naeem, head of the Emergency Department at the Kamal Adwan Hospital, told Anadolu news agency.

The hospital, which is already running short of basic facilities, has now become overcrowded as large numbers of injured and dead are admitted, he added.

“The injured people are being provided care on the floor of the hospital,” Naeem told Anadolu, urging the Arab and Muslim countries to stop Israel from massacring Palestinian people.

The Israeli army “was aware that these victims had come to this area to obtain food and aid, yet they killed them in cold blood,” the government media office in Gaza said.

It accused Israel of “premeditated intent to commit this horrific massacre, executing the victims deliberately.

”Many of the injured have also been admitted to the Al Shifa Hospital, where doctors and medical staff struggle everyday to cope with the harsh conditions.

With a large number of severely injured people reaching the hospitals, the medical teams are unable to subsist due to the lack of medical and human resources.

“We hold the American administration and President Biden personally, as well as the international community, Israel, and international organizations that have shirked their responsibilities, fully responsible for the killings”, the media office in Gaza stated.

It called on the international community to help build a safe humanitarian corridor for the entry of medical and humanitarian aid, as well as fuel, to northern Gaza.

So far, 30,035 Palestinians have been killed, and 70,457 wounded in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza starting on October 7.
