Dr. Sunkanna Velpula, one who was socially boycotted along with Rohith Vemula ,refused to receive his Doctoral Degree from Vice Chancellor Appa Rao at the 18th Convocation of University of Hyderabad. Mr. Appa Rao was under fire for his handling of the issue relating to the suspension of five Dalit students, one of whom,Rohith Vemula, committed suicide on January 17. Then,one of the vibrant leader of Ambedkar Students Association in University of Hyderabad , Sunkanna received his degree from PVC of UoH Vipin Srivastva. Sunkanna is currently working as a doctoral fellow at IIT Bombay.
