The United Muslim Action Committe, Telangana announced that Aysha Renna and Ladeeda Farzana, the students of Jamia Millia Islamia who became the brave faces of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act movement, will attend a public meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Ayisha and Ladeeda are being hailed across India for their defiant bravery after a video went viral on social media, showing them confronting policemen to save their friend and Maktoob journalist Shaheen Abdulla during a protest in capital New Delhi. They were among the thousands of people agitating against the controversial Citizenship Act and their picture has become representative of the struggle against the Citizenship Act.
The protest gathering against controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) was called by the United Muslim Action Committee, comprising All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and various other Muslim groups in Telangana.
Along with Jamia Millia students, the meeting to be held at AIMIM headquarters Darussalam, will be addressed by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, legislators, religious scholars and leaders of various Muslim groups.
“Do not come alone, get your neighbors and friends along. Don’t forget to carry your national flag,” Owaisi, one of the key organizers of the meeting tweeted.
“I look forward to hearing from Ladeeda Farzana and Aysha Renna tomorrow in Darussalam,” he added.
