Bihar: RJD overtakes BJP to becomes single largest party

According to data from the Election Commission as of 7 pm, Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has overtaken the Bharatiya Janata Party to become the single-largest party in terms of leads in Bihar polls.

RJD was leading in 78 seats while the BJP, which led the charts throughout the day, was down to the second spot with lead in 72 seats.

Even as the Election Commission stated that counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly elections will continue till late in the night, ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seems to be racing ahead with leads in 120 seats. The RJD-led Grand Alliance has a lead on 115 seats.

Most exit polls had given the RJD-Congress-Left alliance (Mahagathbandan) a clear edge over the JD(U)-BJP NDA coalition and have predicted that the ruling government was on its way out.
