After internet shutdown Haryana govt suspends voice calling facilities too

After internet shutdown, the Haryana government has now suspended voice calling facilities in seven districts — Kaithal, Panipat, Jind, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Sonipat and Jhajjar to “prevent any disturbance of peace and public order” amid the protests by farmers against three farm laws.

Manohar Lal Khattar government has extended the ban on all mobile networks as well as Black SMS facilities till 5 pm on February 2.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the suspension of internet services at the farmer protest sites in Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri borders till Tuesday night, officials said.

Apart from the three border points, where farmers have been protesting since November against the Centre’s three new farm laws, internet services will remain suspended in their adjoining areas too.

The suspension is effective from 11 pm of January 31 to 11 pm of February 2.

Farmer leaders and opposition parties had claimed that the internet ban was ordered with the intention to crush the farmers’ agitation and demanded its immediate resumption.
