Miss Palestine, Lauren Imseeh, represented her country in Indonesia’s ninth international beauty pageant, “Global Beauty,” by wearing the uniform of Palestinian inmates in occupation prisons as a show of solidarity with them and to draw attention to their suffering.

Miss Palestine chooses the outfit of Palestinian political prisoners to expose that “we are all prisoners in our homeland”.

Imseeh wore a brown suit with the inscription “we can’t breathe since1948” on it, which is worn by Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation courts.

“Palestine is free” was the slogan that appeared in her suit.

Imseeh wore a suit with the four colors of the Palestinian flag on the day of the celebration, explaining that the red and black colors signify her people’s suffering, while the green and white colors represent their never-ending yearning for peace.

“The olive branches and the pigeon signify the optimism and togetherness that my people cling to,” Imseeh said to the media, wearing a crown of white pigeon feathers and a model of pigeons and olive branches behind her back.

Israel holds 4,450 Palestinians including 160 children, 32 women, and 530 administrative detainees in prisons.
