A 14-year-old girl from Maharashtra’s Yerwada was sexually abused by her neighbour on the pretext of taking her to watch the Hindutva propaganda movie “The Kerala Story.”
The Yerwada police have booked the accused, Sunny Gupta (29), on complaint of the victim’s mother, Pune Mirror reported.
The incident occurred on 17 May.
Based on the victim’s mother’s account, the accused visited their residence on May 17 at approximately 3:30 pm. During the visit, he proposed the idea of watching the movie together. However, rather than going to a theater, he brought her to his own house. Once there, he made inappropriate remarks and suggested that he would give her Rs 500 in exchange for sexual favors. Frightened by the situation, the victim attempted to flee, but the accused forcibly grasped her hand. Eventually, she was able to escape and promptly informed her mother about the incident.
The police have lodged the FIR under section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from the Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
“We have booked the man after the mother of the victim filed a complaint against him. He resides in the same area, but he is absconded since the incident was reported to us,” Pune Mirror quoted Police sub-inspector Surekha Gatade as saying.
