Najeeb’s mother being dragged and detained by the police near India Gate.

Delhi Police on Sunday detained Fatima Nafees– mother of the missing JNU student– and many others who were protesting the disappearance of the Najeeb who went missing on 15 October.Visuals appeared all over social media BY JNU students showing Najeeb’s mother being dragged by Delhi Police personnel from the protest site.  Section 144 have been imposed in and around the protesting area.

As per JNU students’ account members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) entered into the protest area and indulged in a scuffle with the JNU members who were protesting. This invoked the police to stop the protest and take the students inside the buses.  The Students of JNU were seen protesting against police’s failure to trace Najeeb who has been missing for last 22 days.

”Why have they detained Najeeb’s mother? Am going to the police stn to meet her”. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has strongly marked his dissent against the police’s action.

”Shameless Delhi Police has detained Najeeb’s mother and misbehaved with 4 first year girls ”  Shehla Rashid tweeted.

” Police atrocity knows no bounds. Not only has the police failed to find any trace of Najeeb, they have also unleashed state brutality on Najeeb’s sister and mother and also students. We have been detained in Mandir Marg police station.Let Modi’s fascist government know that we remain undaunted and will continue to fight for #JusticeforNajeeb ”  Heba Ahmed , a research scholar from JNU posted on Facebook.
