AIMIM to support AIADMK in Lok Sabha, Tamil Nadu Assembly elections

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi MP said on Saturday that his party will support the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in the coming Lok Sabha elections and state Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

“AIADMK has refused to ally with BJP and has committed to never allying with it in the future. It has also assured that it will oppose CAA, NPR & NRC. Therefore, AIMIM extends its support to AIADMK in the coming Lok Sabha elections,” Owaisi said.

“Our alliance will also continue for the Assembly elections,” he added.

In August, the AIADMK officially ended its alliance with the BJP and walked out from the National Democratic Alliance, saying that the decision honours the sentiments and aspirations of its over 2 crore workers. In January, party leader D Jayakumar reiterated that the AIADMK would not ally with the BJP.

Meanwhile, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), AIADMK’s ally, is contesting in the Dindigul Lok Sabha constituency of central Tamil Nadu. State president of the SDPI, VMS Mohammed Mubarak, is the AIADMK candidate in Dindigul, a constituency with a sizeable Muslim population
