Amritpal crackdown: Dozens of Punjab journalists banned by Twitter following govt demand

Over a dozen of journalists from Punjab were banned by Twitter in India following a crackdown in the state to hunt Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh.

Twitter said that the accounts of journalists have been withhled in India in response to a legal demand.

The journalists include Indian Express journalist Kamaldeep Singh Brar, Gagandeep Singh and many more.

Meanwhile, Internet and SMS services suspended for another 24 hours in Punjab, according to a government notice.

Many human rights groups and activists have been raising their concerns over the human rights violations during the government crackdown.

Meanwhile, Indian Express reported that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked the chiefs of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) to be alert in the border areas as there is a possibility that Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh Sandhu might cross over the International Border in Punjab or via the India-Nepal border.
