Youth and students raised slogans against Hindutva outside the offices of Union government institutions in various districts of Kerala and Raj Bhavan in state capital Thiruvananthapuram and took out protest marches Tuesday, following a protest call given by Fraternity Movement against the countrywide assaults on Muslims during Ram Navami rallies.

Anti-Muslim violence were reported in at least eight states in India on Sunday as Hindutva outfits carried out rallies to celebrate Ram Navami.

A pattern is formed as sequences of events across India looked similar, on the same evening. A death was reported in Gujarat and more than 50 houses and shops were destroyed by Hindutva groups in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Mosques were also targeted by saffron activists.

Fraternity Movement Kerala’s acting president KM Shefrin said that the Sangh Parivar’s genocidal attempts against the Muslim community under the cover of Ram Navami will be fought with resistance.

He was inaugurating the march outside Raj Bhavan. Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram is the official residence of the governor of Kerala.

The Union and state governments were pursuing an agenda of ethnic cleansing of Muslims that was unwilling to protect the mosques, houses, businesses, vehicles, and properties belong to the country’s largest religious minority, KM Shefrin said.

The indifference of the general public to the ongoing anti-Muslim and racist violence under the guise of Hindu religious festivals should be questioned, Fraternity Movement Kerala unit general secretary KK Ashraf said.

Police have fired water cannon at protesters outside Raj Bhavan, as seen in footage shared on social media.

The protest outside head post office in Kozhikode was inaugurated by Fraternity national president Shamseer Ibrahim.

“This is not a communal clash portrayed by media. This is a clear attempt of anti-Muslim pogrom,” Ibraheem said.
