Bhajanlal Sharma to be the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan

The BJP on Tuesday picked first-time MLA Bhajanlal Sharma as Rajasthan’s new chief minister, ending days of speculation that followed its victory in the assembly polls.

He will take oath as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan on December 15.

The CM-designate’s name was proposed by former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who was herself considered to be in the running for the top post.

In his first interaction with the media after being picked as Rajasthan’s CM, Bhajan Lal said, “I would like to assure you that all the MLAs of Rajasthan will definitely meet the expectations that the people have with the BJP. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will ensure holistic development of Rajasthan in all areas.”

He is a first time MLA and has been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Sharma has served as the State General Secretary for the BJP four times.

“There will be two Deputy CMs- Diya Singh and Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa. Vasudev Devnani to be the Speaker,” says BJP central observer for Rajasthan, Rajnath Singh.
