Bharatiya Janata Party accounted for almost 70% of the total assets declared to the Election Commission of India (ECI) by seven national parties in 2019-2020, according to Association for Democratic Reform (ADR) data.
Out of the total assets worth ₹6,988.57 crore declared by seven national parties, the saffron party declared ₹4,847.78 crore or 69.37%.
The other parties are Bahujan Samaj Party (₹698.33 crore), Congress (₹588.16 crore), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (₹569.519 crore), All-India Trinamool Congress (₹247.78 crore), Communist Party of India (₹29.78 crore) and Nationalist Congress Party (₹8.20 crore).
The BJP’s share of the total assets of the seven parties increased from 54.29% in 2018-2019, according to ADR’s analysis in 2021.
Regarding liabilities, national parties declared total liabilities of ₹74.27 crore, of which Congress accounted for ₹49.55 crore. Congress remained as the party with the most liabilities.

The report was released on Friday.
The ADR report also talks about the regional parties. According to ADR report, 44 regional parties declared assets worth ₹2,129.38 crore, with the Samajwadi Party being at the top of the list with ₹563.47 crore.
Other regional parties are Telangana Rashtra Samithi with ₹301.47 crore and the AIADMK with ₹267.61 crore.
Among the top 10, the Shiv Sena had assets worth ₹185.90 crore, the DMK declared ₹184.24 crore in assets and the Janata Dal (United) had ₹45.094 crore.
