Days after Congress and Samajwadi Party finalised their seat-sharing pact for the Lok Sabha elections, SP chief and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav with a large number of party supporters joined former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in its final ‘UP-leg’, in Agra on Sunday.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and state Congress leaders were also present.
“To fulfil the dreams of BR Ambedkar, that have been ruined by BJP, we must all take a pledge: ‘BJP hatao, desh bachao, sankat mitao’ (remove BJP, save the nation and end the crisis),” said Akhilesh Yadav.
“Agra city is well-known across the world as the city of love. I’m happy that they have started the mohabbat ki dukaan (shop of love) here… We hope that the fight of the INDIA bloc and PDA (Pichhre, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) will work together to defeat the NDA,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi said, “If you are poor, you’ll face injustice. Reason for hatred today is this injustice. So, we’ve added the word ‘justice’ or ‘nyay’ in our journey… A person pointed out that ‘you are trying to open a ‘mohabbat ki dukan in nafrat ka bazar’. This is what we, Akhilesh and Priyanka, are trying to do.”
