CPIM’s Dalit youth leader killed by RSS in Kerala

P U Sanoop, a 26-year old Communist Party of India (Marxist) local leader in Kerala was stabbed to death on Sunday by a group belonging to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bajrang Dal

Three others, who were with Sanoop were also stabbed and the condition of one person is serious, Malayalam news channels reported.

“The murder of Sanoop was done by Sangh Parivar members, including a former Congress worker, who joined the BJP recently. The BJP and the Congress have become a safe haven for criminals. The leaders of those parties are using their criminal activists to eliminate political enemies,” CPI(M) state chief Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said in a statement.

Minister for Local Self Government in the Pinarayi Vijayan ministry, A C Moideen who visited the area told the media that the prime accused in the case are associated with the RSS and the Bajrang Dal.

“The prime accused and others are associated with the RSS and Bajrang Dal. Police are probing the matter. Those in the hospital have suffered multiple stab wounds. This is a stronghold of CPI(M). The party has been fighting gangs involved in drug peddling. We suspect the RSS is engaged in protecting these peddlers,” Moideen said.

DYFI central executive committee strongly denounced the killing of yet another DYFI activist in Kerala.

Sanoop, a member from the Dalit community is the third DYFI local leader who has been hacked to death in a gap of one month. Earlier on August 30, two DYFI local leaders were hacked to death by Congress workers in Thiruvananthapuram.

“When attacked they (Sanoop and other DYFI activists) were in the preparation to distribute food packets in Thrissur Medical college. We join the deep grief of his family,” reads a statement by DYFI.

“Eliminating a comrade definitely hurts us deeply. But our movement cannot be eliminated. Come out on streets protesting this brutal murder and the dehumanization of politics,” it said.
