Dalit Panchayat president protests after she stopped from entering office in Andhra Pradesh

Many villagers of Kallumadi Panchayat in Andhra Pradesh’s Ananatpur protested against the casteism, after the president of Kallumadi Panchayat who is from Dalit community, was not allowed to enter the village secretariat office on Wednesday.

According to The Hindu report, when the newly elected president Fakkeeramma tried to enter the secretariat, the employees there locked the premises and did not allow her to enter.

The employees were followers of former Panchayat president from YSR Congress, Saubhagyamma.

Fakkeeramma had contested as a rebel YSRCP candidate after the president post was reserved for the SCs.

Fakkeeramma who sat in a dharna front of the locked entrance of the president’s office, said reporters that she was not handed over the charge.

The villagers who came out in support of her with plastic pots, raised slogans against the “autocratic behaviour of upper caste people”
