‘Join BJP or get arrested’: Delhi Minister Atishi claims BJP threatened her

Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi has revealed on Tuesday that four additional senior leaders of the AAP are slated for arrest within the next two months unless she joins the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“The BJP has approached me through someone very close. They have asked me to join the BJP and said this will save my political career. They have threatened that if I don’t switch over, ED (Enforcement Directorate) will arrest me within a month,” she told the media.

She accuses the BJP of employing central agencies in its purported endeavour to suppress AAP. According to her allegations, the ruling party intends to apprehend Atishi, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP MP Raghav Chadha, and party MLA Durgesh Pathak.

“First, they put everyone in the AAP’s leadership in jail. Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and now Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have been arrested. The BJP’s plan is to arrest four more AAP leaders in the next two months. They will arrest me, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak and Raghav Chadha,” she added.

She said the person close to her who approached her on behalf of the BJP had said that the ruling party had “made up its mind on crushing everyone in the AAP”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested on March 21 by the ED in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy of his government, was on Monday sent to judicial custody till April 15 by a city court.
