Kerala: Woman journalist to move legally against former BJP MP Suresh Gopi for inappropriate conduct

A video of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and actor Suresh Gopi interacting with reporters in Kerala has sparked controversy due to his inappropriate response to a female journalist.

In the video, the former Rajya Sabha member places his hand on the woman journalist’s shoulder while responding to her question. In response, she promptly steps back and attempts to remove his hand. When he repeats the gesture, she firmly removes his hand and proceeds to ask her question once more.

The woman journalist’s question was about the BJP’s inability to secure a single Lok Sabha seat in Kerala over the years.

The journalist stated that she is taking legal action against the saffron politician.

Her organization, MediaOne TV, is providing support in various ways, including legal assistance, as mentioned by its managing editor, C Dawood.

The Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) has strongly criticised Suresh Gopi’s conduct and demanded an apology from him.

The KUWJ has declared its intent to file a complaint with the Women’s Commission and pursue legal action against Suresh Gopi. State President MV Vineetha and General Secretary R Kiran Babu have called on Suresh Gopi to acknowledge his mistake and issue an apology.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Gopi stated that he was treating her with affection and offered an apology if she experienced any emotional distress.
