Malayalam film legend, 3 time national award winner, Nedumudi Venu dies at 73

Veteran Malayalam actor Nedumudi Venu passed away on Monday. He was 73.

The actor was under treatment at a private hospital here and was in a serious condition.

Venu began his career with theatre and drama and later ventured into movies. He debuted in Mollywood in 1978 with ace director G Aravindan’s film ‘Thambu’.

In his career spanning over four decades, Nedumudi Venu has been part of over 500 movies in Malayalam and Tamil languages.

Venu is regarded as one of the finest actors in Malayalam cinema.

Venu has also featured in an English movie ‘Chaurahen’.

The actor has bagged two National awards, and a special Jury mention, and half a dozen of state film awards for his flawless performances. The biggest moment in his career was going to the Cannes Film Festival as the lead actor in the film A Story That Begins at the End (2003) directed by Murali Nair.

On the work front, Nedumudi Venu will be next seen in ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’, directed by Priyadarshan.
