Six dead as trains collide in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram

At least six people died and several others were injured after two trains collided in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district on Sunday night.

Palasa-Visakha Express en route from Visakhapatnam to Rayagada collided with a goods train in the Vizianagaram district.

According to the railway official, the local administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were informed and accident relief trains have reached the site.

Prime Minister Modi also spoke to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav regarding the train collision incident and took stock of the situation, a statement from the PMO said.

Andhra CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered the officials to take quick-relief measures and ensure that the injured get prompt medical services, a statement from the CM office said.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said all passengers are shifted.
