Thousands of Muslims hold mass rally in Kerala, urge people’s protest against Hindutva, Islamophobia

Kerala Muslim Jama-ath Federation (KMJF) held a mass rally and public conference in Kollam on Saturday. The event, which was organized as part of KMJF’s 40th anniversary, saw thousands of Muslims from southern Kerala coming together to voice their concerns against a number of issues that are currently affecting the Muslim community in India.

The leaders of KMJF during addressing thousands of its cadres, spoke out against proposed National Registration of Citizens (NRC) and Uniform Civil Code, violence against Madrasas and Masjids across India, and Hindutva fascism and Islamophobia.

They emphasized the need for unity among Muslims and other marginalized communities to combat these issues.

The rally saw participants raising slogans against Hindutva and calling for the protection of rights of largest religious minority in India.

Kerala Muslim Jama-ath Federation is a body of Dakshina Kerala Jami-yyathul Ulama, the largest Muslim group in central and southern Kerala.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Indian Union Muslim League leader PK Kunjalikutty, NK Premachandran MP, Dakshina Kerala Jamiatul Ulama President KP Abubakar Hazrat, General Secretary Todiyur Muhammad Kunj Maulavi, Kerala Muslim Jamaat Federation State President Kadaikal Abdul Aziz Maulavi and others addressed the audience.

Pinarayi Vijayan has accused the Sangh Parivar of attempting to create a false image of Kerala and using fascist strategies to repeat lies. He has also claimed that the Sangh Parivar is trying to drown even religious celebrations in blood.

According to Vijayan, the Sangh Parivar is misusing even art forms to further its agenda and create a generation without a sense of history. He has further stated that Kerala has always kept religious extremists out of its citizens’ lives.

Vijayan also expressed concerns about the exclusion of Gandhiji, Nehru, and Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad from the textbooks. He emphasized that the state does not intend to exclude history from the textbooks but to teach it in accordance with the Sangh Parivar’s theory.
