UP: BJP MP Subrat Pathak attacks cops, threatens to kill officer to rescue kidnapping accused

A case has been lodged by Uttar Pradesh Police against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Subrat Pathak and a group led by him after attacking police officers and threatening to kill a cop.

All this in an attempt to rescue an accused person who was arrested by Unnao Police in a kidnapping case.

Police sources said that one Deepu, a resident of Prem Nagar in Kannauj, informed the police that he lives in a rented place in Unnao district.

“Deepu had alleged that on Friday evening around 7.30 pm Prabhakar Kushwaha, Sagar Sharma, Vishal Katiyar and Abhishek Dubey, all residents of Kannauj kidnapped his brother Nilesh,” police sources said to UNI news agency.

Police sources said that apprehending threat to life of his brother, Deepu gave a complaint at Auras police station in Unnao after which a kidnapping case was lodged.

“During preliminary investigation Nilesh’s location was traced in a gym in Kannauj after which Unnao police raided the place, recovered the youth and nabbed the accused. The Unnao police first brought the accused to Mandi police outpost and later took them with them,” they said.

When the accomplices of the accused got the information, they reached Mandi police outpost and attacked the police officers camping there.

The MP’s men attacked the police in which seven persons, including three Sub-Inspector (SIs), were injured, the news agency reported.

“The trouble makers are said to be the supporters of BJP,” the police sources said.

Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh said that it was a serious matter and action will be taken against the assailants after identifying them.

He further said that on the complaint of the in-charge of Mandi police outpost Hakim Singh, a case has been lodged against BJP MP Subrat Pathak and nine others along with 42 unidentified people.
