A Muslim couple was beaten to death with iron rods and sticks by their neighbours in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur.
The incident happened on Friday evening in village Rajeypur under Hargaon Police Station area.
The deceased were identified as Abbas and Kamrul Nisha.
Police said that the murder was allegedly a result of an affair between the victim’s son and the daughter of one of the accused.
The couple’s son was in jail following the girl’s father’s complaint. When he was released from jail a few days back, some members of the girl’s family planned the attack on the couple, Sitapur Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra said.
The couple died on the spot in the attack and all the accused fled from the spot, PTI news agency reported.
Three people have been arrested in the case.
