A 23-year-old Muslim man was killed by Uttar Pradesh Police in the Patwai area of Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district on Sunday. Another Muslim youth was injured in the police firing.
The police claimed that the duo were going to slaughter a cow, PTI news agency reported.
The deceased was identified as Sajid Qureshi and his associate was identified as Babloo (30).
Babloo suffered a bullet injury on his leg and is undergoing treatment.
Sajid and Babloo are residents of Moradabad.
According to police, when the cops asked the Muslim men’s car to stop, its driver ran the vehicle in another direction and they chased it. The driver lost control of the speeding vehicle and it overturned in a field on the roadside, according to the police. The police said the two people sitting in the car then came out and started firing at them. The police returned the fire and both the men were shot at.
The Uttar Pradesh Police said that a car, two countrymade weapons, cartridges, an electronic weighing machine and weapons used for slaughtering were recovered from the duo.
