“While Union govt announced half-day holiday, we are declaring full-day holiday on 22 Jan,” says Himachal CM

The Congress Government in Himachal Pradesh has declared a public holiday in all schools, colleges, and universities on January 22. The Ram temple consecration is scheduled to be held on the same day in Ayodhya.

“Lord Ram doesn’t belong to a single party; he is an ideal for all of us. While the central government has declared a half-day for all offices, we have announced a full day off,” said Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

The CM’s announcement comes after BJP state president Rajeev Bindal on Friday urged the Himachal Pradesh government to declare a holiday on January 22 so that Hindus can visit the temples in their villages and watch the live telecast of the Ram temple consecration ceremony.

Last week, Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury declined the Ram temple invitation. The party has called it a RSS, BJP event.
