Women dominate top ranks in UPSC Civil Services 2022 final result

This year too, women have dominated the top ranks in UPSC Civil Services results. Ishita Kishore, Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishra have secured the top four ranks, respectively in the UPSC 2022 results announced on Tuesday.

Women have secured 6 spots among the top 10 in results. This is an improvement considering low success rate of women in UPSC CSE.

Out of the total number of qualified candidates, which amounts to 933, 320 are women and 613 are men, as stated by the commission. Among the top 25 candidates, 14 are women, and the remaining 11 are men.

In the civil services examination of 2021, Shruti Sharma, Ankita Agarwal, and Gamini Singla achieved the top three ranks, with Shruti securing the first position, Ankita securing the second position, and Gamini securing the third position.

Candidates who appeared in the personality test can check their results at the official website – upsc.gov.in. The UPSC CSE preliminary exam was held on June 5, 2022, and the results were released on June 22. The main examination was conducted from September 16 to 25, and the results were declared on December 6. The interviews concluded on May 18.

Of the total recommended candidates, 345 belong to the general category, 99 are from EWS, 263 are OBC, 154 are SC and 72 are ST candidates, as per UPSC.

Delhi’s Ishita Kishore secured an All-India Rank 1 (AIR 1) in the UPSC Civil Services 2022. An alumnus of Delhi University’s Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Kishore completed her Economics Hons undergraduate degree in 2017.

‘One has to be disciplined and sincere to be able to achieve this,’ says AIR 1, Ishita Kishore.
