Photos: Arabs unite to celebrate another historic win for Morocco

The electrifying fans of Morocco turned into a frenzy when the final whistle was blown in Al Thumama Stadium on Saturday. Their team have scripted history by becoming the first African country to enter the semifinals of a World Cup.

Hundreds of fans are reaching Souq Wafiq, the unofficial epicentre of fan celebrations. Men, women and children from different Arab nations cheer in joy while some break into dance in the middle of the street.

Fans also come in vehicles, giving headaches to police and authorities. They honk and wave flags causing brief traffic blocks near Musherib.

Not all were high in celebration. Some fans praised god for the victory and shouted prayers for what is ahead for the team.

“bye bye Ronaldo, who is next,” a group of fans chant beating drums. The team have become a favourite for Arabs as they share the same linguistic and Cultural roots.

Several fans didn’t forget to chant slogans in support of Palestine during their celebration— a common sight in Qatar during the World Cup.

Morocco is the only African team in the quarter-finals. They will play either France or England in semifinal.

Morocco also defeated Belgium and Spain in their unbelievable journey to the semi-finals. They finished in a draw against Croatia in the first group-stage match.
