Entire case is false, says Chidambaram on Jamia students’ arrest

Congress leader and former Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has lashed out at the government for arresting Jamia Millia Islamia students and said that it is being done to create fear amongst the students so that they don't participate in any protests.

The Delhi Police on Tuesday booked Jamia Millia Islamia student leaders Meeran Haider, Safoora Zargar and former Jawaharlal Nehru University student leader Umar Khalid under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, or UAPA, in a case related to violence in North East Delhi in February left 36 Muslims dead by Hindu mobs.
