As Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the White House for a 21-gun salute on Thursday morning, activists staged a die-in near the presidential residence in Washington to denounce his visit.

The group ‘No Separate Justice’ organized the protest and said that the PM Modi was responsible for grave human rights violations against minorities in India.

They urged the U.S. to take measures such as sanctions, investigation, and referral to the crimes to the International Criminal Court.

Fatima, one of the organizers, said to Maktoob: “We are here to expose Modi’s bloody record and ongoing violence, and we demand that he faces the consequences. We seek accountability and justice for our communities under this oppressive regime.”

The protesters said they chose the die-in as a form of protest because it has been used to raise awareness about various social and political issues, such as environmental destruction and war. They said they hoped their action would highlight the situation and pressure the international community to act.

Sana Qutubuddin of ‘No Separate Justice’ said: “We want to show the world that no matter how censored Indian media has become, the world can see through the new emperor’s new clothes. We want them to see that these are not just numbers or statistics. These are real human lives that are being taken every day.”

The protesters said they were inspired by the history of die-ins as a form of protest against injustice.
