At least 40 killed in ‘heinous massacre’ in central Gaza, “all of them women, children,” says Hamas

Israeli army shelling of residential homes in central Gaza late on Thursday killed at least 40 Palestinians and injured over hundred, local authorities said.

The vast majority of those killed and wounded were children and women. More than 90 percent of victims in the ‘heinous massacre’ were children and women, the Gaza government media office said.

The attack, the worst in days, represents Israel’s “practical response” to the hearings on Israel’s occupation of Palestine at the Hague, said Hamas condemning the overnight Israeli “massacre.”

“The Nazi-Zionist enemy continues its criminal bombing of civilian homes in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was the barbaric bombing that targeted a residential square in the city of Deir al-Balah Thursday evening, resulting in the death of about 40 martyrs, all of them women, children,” the Palestinian group said in a statement.

“It represents the occupying entity’s practical response to the hearings against it in the International Court of Justice, and confirms to the international community that it is a rogue entity that does not care about human laws and values,” said Hamas.
