Three Palestinians killed, 27 injured as Israel launches air attacks on Jenin

Israel’s military has launched air raids on the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, carrying out an attack that involved a missile and killing at least three Palestinians and wounding several.

At least 27 Palestinians wounded, with seven in serious condition, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Casualties are likely much higher but paramedics aren’t able to reach some areas due to damage caused by Israeli bulldozers and shelling, reports Middle East Eye.

“We have not received this number of serious injuries since 2002,” an official at the Jenin Governmental Hospital said.

“What is going on in the refugee camp is real war,” Khaled Alahmad, a Palestinian ambulance driver, told the Reuters news agency.

“There were strikes from the sky targeting the camp, every time we drive in around five to seven ambulances and we come back full with injured people.”

Mahmoud al-Saadi, director of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Jenin, told AFP there was “bombing from the air and an invasion from the ground.”

“Several houses and sites have been bombed…. smoke is rising from everywhere.”

The Israeli military said in a statement it was conducting a “focused” and “extensive counterterrorism effort” in the Jenin area.

In a separate incident, a 21-year-old Palestinian was also killed by Israeli fire near the West Bank city of Ramallah, according to officials.
