Hyderabad University fines students Rs 1,000 each for conducting “UoH for Palestine” protest

At least six students were fined Rs 1,000 each and were warned to be cautious by the University of Hyderabad for conducting a Palestine solidarity march inside the campus on 27 October last year.

The demonstration was conducted under the banner of “UoH for Palestine.”

According to the notice issued on Tuesday by the university registrar, the banner “UoH for Palestine” “has not been registered with the Dean of Students’ Welfare office,” and the program was conducted “without obtaining prior permission from the University authorities.”

The administration imposed a Rs 1,000 fine on each student.

On 27 October last year, the students belong to various student groups marched in solidarity with Palestine, persevering despite security staff attempting to stop them and tearing down their placards.
