2 BRS MPs join saffron party, secure spots in BJP’s candidates list

Two sitting BRS MPs, who recently switched to the BJP due to ticket uncertainties, have now found a place in the BJP’s initial list of 195 candidates announced Saturday.

Nagarkurnool MP Pothuganti Ramulu joined the BJP in the presence of Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar and BJP’s Telangana in-charge Tarun Chugh on Thursday. Zahirabad MP B B Patil followed suit on Friday, securing candidature in their respective seats under the BJP banner.

Last month, Peddapalli constituency’s MP Venkatesh Netha Borlakunta shifted allegiance to the Congress on February 6.

In all, the BRS has lost three of its nine sitting Lok Sabha MPs so far.

A senior BJP leader hinted at more BRS MPs possibly joining the BJP after PM Modi’s visit to Adilabad and Sangareddy on March 4 and 5.
