YouTube terminates ‘Dalit Camera’ , the voice of Dalit Bahujans and Minorities

Dalit Camera’, a popular YouTube channel dedicated to caste issues, has been terminated from YouTube alleging “copyright infringement.” “This account has been terminated because we received multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement regarding material the user posted,” a declaration by the YouTube on the terminated page reads.

The Dalit Camera which has become a rallying point for the Dalits, Adivasis, Bahujans and Minorities,  founded by  Ravichandran Bathran , a research fellow of  IIAS  and Dalit activist. “ It is a huge archive of Dalit Bahujan voices from all over India and the all contents of Dalit Camera is original.”  Ravichandran  told Maktoob Media. Activists posted in social media against the you tube’s policy with the hashtag #BringBackDC  and argued  that the accusations of copyright infringement are baseless.

Dalit Camera’s account has been unfairly terminated on YouTube for copyright infringement. Please send feedback under the “Help” button, which will include a screenshot of the page (you can use the text I used, pasted below).
“Hi there, this is currently the message on the page for the channel Dalit Camera (https://www.youtube.com/user/kadhirnilavan/about…). Dalit Camera is an original activist video channel, representing the critical voices of several marginalized groups, and uploads content not available on any other sources.
Please investigate what third-party claims have been presented to you, as the Dalit Camera team conducts original investigations and interviews and only uploads their own content. This can be verified on their website: http://www.dalitcamera.com/. Thanks.” Dalit Camera posted on their official page.
