Muslim minors in UP tortured by Yogi Adityanath’s Police suffer rectal bleeding
On March 2 in 2015, Yogi Adityanath shared a stage with a supporter who said that when Yogi came to power, Muslims would no longer have the right to vote and that Yogi’s people would rape all Muslims. In that speech, his man called for digging up Muslim women from their graves and raping them.
Yogi, the militant monk spreading Islamophobia in India was appointed as the Chief Minister on 26 March 2017 after the BJP won the 2017 State Assembly elections. Uttar Pradesh is home to 220 million people — one-fifth of whom are Muslim.
Yogi has been one of Uttar Pradesh’s most notorious politicians, given to hateful rhetoric that incites discrimination and hostility against Muslims.
On 20th December in 2019, in Muzaffarnagar, Yogi Adityanath’s Police opened fire on the anti-CAA protesters. Nearby, Maulana Asad Raza Hussaini, a Muslim cleric, and his students were sitting at Sadaat Madrasa when about 40 police officers, bearing batons and iron rods, broke down the doors and burst in. Upon entering the madrasa the police officers began violently smashing everything.
Maulana told the policemen that none from the Madrasa took part in any protest and pleaded for them not to vandalise the Madrasa. There were Rapid Action Force personnel also along with policemen, witnesses say. Despite listening Maulana, police and RAF personnel pounced on him. The students who study at Madrasa were under 18 and orphans. The policemen took Maulana and 35 of his students to a nearby police barracks.
The Maulana had been beaten up very badly and was left without a single cloth on his body. He is bed-ridden now.
The students were tortured with bamboo rods and made to shout slogans Jai Shri Ram” and “Har Har Mahadev”.
Students were abused, thrashed with sticks and forced to kneel against the wall, relatives reveal.
The students were also denied access to the toilet at times, and some of them suffered rectal bleeding from the torture. There were signs of sexual assault and rectal bleeding on their body.
Many expressed shock and outrage over the report of students suffering from the rectal bleeding in the police torture and demanded immediate probe into this rape under the police custody.
