As Kerala continues to remain on edge while battling the heavy downpour, the toll has reached 71 on Sunday and over two and half lakh people were evacuated to 1221 relief camps.
63 feared missing after landslide in Malappuram, rescue teams on spot
Rescue teams have reached Kavalappara in Malappuram where more than 63 people are feared missing after a landslide hit the area on August 8.
A total of 11 bodies were recovered from location on Saturday.

Red alert
Red alert has been declared in Kerala’s three districts of Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod and an orange alert was sounded in six districts — Ernakulam, Idukki, Trissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode — for Sunday.
Flight operations
Flight operations from the Kochi international airport will resume at 12 noon on Sunday, an airport official said.
82 landslides in 2 days
There have been 80 landslides in two days in in eight districts. The biggest landslides were in Malappuram district’s Kavalappara-Bhoothanam colony and in Wayanad district’s Meppadi Kuthumala.

Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the constituency on Sunday to oversee the rescue operations.
Pregnant woman, 6 others rescued in daring act
An eight-month pregnant woman and an 11-month-old baby were among the seven people rescued in a two-hour operation by the Kerala Fire Force near Attapadi in the Palakkad district on Saturday amid cheers by crowd. They were holed up on a tiny island in the swollen Bhavani river, near Attapadi. Due to heavy rains in the area for the past three days, the river was in spate.
