Where is Najeeb? Fathima Nafees Calls for a Protest at CBI Headquarters on 26th February

Fathima Nafees, mother of Najeeb Ahmed calls for a protest at CBI Headquarters, Delhi on 26th February evening,  asking, “Where is Najeeb”. It has been 16 months since Najeeb Ahmed, 27, a student of MSc Biotechnology, forcefully disappeared from JNU’s Mahi-Mandvi hostel on 15 October 2016, following a physical attack by students who belong to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the previous night. And has not been heard of since.

“Najeeb came to Delhi from a small town Badayun and joined JNU for higher studies. He was the first generation from his family to be able to access higher education. On the night of 14th October 2016, he was assaulted by a group of ABVP ruffians who abused him on communal lines and gave him death-threats. He went ‘missing’ next morning, and has not been heard of since. It has been more than 16 months since. Meanwhile, his mother has been humiliated, dragged and even has cases filed against her for demanding his whereabouts. Every institution, right from JNU admin to Delhi Police and now the CBI, has been more interested in shielding those from ABVP who assaulted him rather than finding him. And sections of the mainstream media have spread canards about him to vilify him. Why is the PM & our government not bothered about this? Do they have something to hide? Last I heard, ABVP goons have refused lie-detector test in court, and are not cooperating with the investigation!” Umar Khalid, student activist from JNU posted on facebook.
