In the path of struggle without Akhil, the people’s struggle in Assam has come to a standstill— banners, placards, and a few slogans still holding value are lying on the streets.

Amid protests over the unfair incarceration of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protestors in connection with northeast Delhi violence, Delhi Police has now come up with charge sheets aiming more of them.

A Delhi court on Saturday granted bail Faisal Farooq, principal of Rajdhani Public School, who was earlier charged with northeast Delhi violence case and observed that the CCTV footage did not show Farooq’s presence at the place where the riots had broken out.

Leaders of eight political parties including CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI General Secretary D Raja, LJD General Secretary Sharad Yadav, RJD MP Manoj Jha, VCK chief, and MP Thol. Thirumavalavan, have addressed a letter to the President of India demanding the immediate release of opposition leaders, students, and human rights activists and calling for an end to the politics of vendetta against protesters and political dissenters.

“Sri Lankan authorities have a responsibility to prosecute those responsible for the horrific Easter Sunday attacks last year, but the arrests should be lawful, and not used to vilify an entire community,” said Meenakshi Ganguly, South Asia director. “The recent arrests of well-known Muslims, combined with biased government actions and rising anti-Muslim hate speech, raise concerns for the broader safety of the Muslim community.”
