After Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the repeal of farm laws, prominent Muslim organisations and lawmakers in the country urged the Union government to take back the Citizenship (Amendment) Act as well.

A delegation of Muslim organisations, led by leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (JUH) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JIH), met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday in connection with the incidents of forced evictions and police killings of two Bengali Muslims in Darrang.
