The Congress on Sunday accused the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government of ordering a “brutal lathi-charge” on National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) protesters who were taking out a peaceful march in Varanasi as part of the party’s nationwide ‘MGNREGA Bachao Sangram’ campaign.

The All India Students’ Federation (AISF) and the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) alleged corruption and unconstitutional action by the Delhi University Election Commission after it cancelled the candidature of Mallik Zaffar, the DUSU Vice-Presidential candidate of the AIDSO-AISF UNITED PANEL, in violation of Lyngdoh guidelines.
