As the Popular Front of India, a prominent Muslim organisation, was outlawed three years ago, many of its top leaders are languishing in jail as undertrial prisoners.
Security agencies in Bihar on Friday arrested Mahmood Alam Nadvi, former Bihar chief of the banned Muslim organisation Popular Front of India (PFI), just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Purnea on 15 September.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the medical bail plea of Popular Front of India (PFI) leader A.S. Ismail, who was booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, noting that he is not in an emergency medical condition.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to Abdul Sathar, then Secretary General of the Kerala unit of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI), in connection with the 2022 conspiracy case involving the murder of RSS worker Srinivasan in Palakkad, stating that no one can be jailed merely for their ideology.
