Radhika Vemula and several activists paid tribute to Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula whose institutional murder in 2016 became a milestone in the history of Dalit and Bahujan resistance in India.

Dalit organisations gave a call for ‘Chalo HCU’ on January 17 to commemorate Rohith Vemula and to protest against the destruction of the portraits of Dr. BR ambedkar and the Dalit leaders and harassment of Dalit students allegedly by University of Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor Podile Apparao.

"Rohith including five other Dalit scholars were socially boycotted by the University Administration in 2016 in HCU campus reminding us of the same caste untouchability and physical segregation that we have grown up since childhood." Sumeet Samod, a Dalit rapper and researcher from JNU said.

We have only heard how British rule was oppressive. But we are directly witnessing these days, how the government under Narendra Modi's BJP is infact worse than the British rule.

UDA formed in 2013 and led by the Ambedkar Students’ Association (ASA), has joined with the Bahujan Students’ Front (BSF), the Dalit Students’ Union (DSU), the Muslim Students’ Federation (MSF), the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the Students’ Islamic Organization of India (SIO) and the Tribal Students’ Federation (TSF).

The High Court of Kerala invalidated the University action that denied C.H.Abdul Jabbar's entry for the Ph.D. entrance, the case filed via Adv P.E.Sajal. The Kerala High Court has directed the EFLU to conduct a separate Ph.D. test for Jabbar.
