Over 600 Israelis and 320 Palestinians were killed as the Palestinian wide-scale attack against Israel is well into its second day.

Palestinians fired thousands of rockets into Israel and launched an air, sea and land incursion in a surprise assault on Saturday morning. In response, Israel has bombed several locations in Gaza, including hospitals, a mosque and residential towers housing civilians.

Several high-ranking Israeli military commanders, battalion leaders, and 30 police officers were among those killed in Israel, according to Middle East Eye. The killed include the commander of the multidimensional unit, the commander of the Nahal reconnaissance battalion, three majors, including an air force instructor, and several other soldiers.

Gun battles continue between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters in Ashkelon and several areas of southern Israel.

Unofficial estimates say 750 people are missing in Israel with many believed captured by Palestinians.

Israeli authorities said they are still a long way from securing areas seized by Palestinians while Hamas said they are sending reinforcements to active combat areas inside Israeli territory.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, Hezbollah and Israel exchanged artillery and rocket fire. Hezbollah said its attack was in “solidarity with Palestinians.”
