Heavy bombardments in Gaza, 400 killed in last 24 hours

Israel has intensified bombings of the Gaza Strip overnight, with reports of air attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp and close to Gaza’s Al-Shifa and Al-Quds Hospitals.

At least 400 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air attacks on Gaza in the last 24 hours, according to Palestinian media agency WAFA.

The media director of the Palestinian Red Crescent said that the Al-Quds Hospital faced the threat of bombardment “at any moment,” Al Jazeera reported.

Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza said 65 percent of the casualties taken to the hospital overnight were children.

Al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza is on the brink of “real disaster”, with its fuel possibly running out in the next two days, according to its director.

Dr Mohammad Abu Salmiya said to Al Jazeera the hospital has yet to receive any UN aid amid the total Israeli blockade of Gaza.

Al-Shifa Hospital has the highest number of wounded patients as well as medical staff in the entire Gaza Strip. With its power cut off by Israel, it is operating with generators that use fuel.
