Mamata says will complain to EC about Modi’s Bangladesh visit

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for choosing to go to Bangladesh on an official visit when Assembly elections are underway in bordering Bengal.

“Elections are underway here and he (PM) goes to Bangladesh and lectures on Bengal. It is a total violation of code of conduct of the election… Sometimes they say Mamata has brought people from Bangladesh and did infiltration. But he (PM) himself goes to Bangladesh for vote marketing,” Banerjee said.

CM charged at PM Modi over the controversy when a Bangladeshi actor had come to West Bengal to campaign during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, saying that if that actor’s visa was cancelled then the Prime Minister’s must be too.

The first phase of the Bengal election is being held in 30 Assembly constituencies currently.
