Hyderabad: BJP candidate ‘shooting arrow’ at Masjid stirs controversy

A video of Madhavi Latha, the BJP candidate for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, surfaced on the internet, in which she was seen miming as shooting an arrow at a Masjid during a rally.

The opposition criticised the act and said that these kinds of actions threaten the city’s peace.

According to PTI, the footage seemed to be shot on Wednesday during a Ram Navami procession.

Responding to the controversy, Latha asserted that the video was “incomplete” and was being disseminated negatively through the media. “I would like to apologize as I respect all individuals, even if anyone’s sentiments are hurt because of such a video,” she said.

The opposition claimed that a customary apology cannot undo the harm caused by the hate campaign of the BJP.

Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and the Hyderabad MP, commented on the video and claimed that the BJP was attempting to disrupt peace in the city, according to ANI.

He appealed, “The people of Telangana and Hyderabad have seen the BJP’s intentions.” “I ask people to consider what they are trying to accomplish and to cast their votes sensibly.”

Voters, according to Owaisi, will not put up with the BJP candidate’s “vulgar and provocative” behaviour.

Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj, replying to a query about the BJP candidate’s action, said that such a video had not come to his notice, PTI reported.
