The protesting farmers’ unions on Thursday rejected the Narendra Modi government’s proposal to suspend the three agriculture laws for one and half year and set up a joint committee to address grievances.
In their general body meeting, leaders of the 41 protesting farmers’ unions reiterated a full repeal of the three laws and enacting legislation for remunerative MSP as the pending demands of the farmers’ movement.
“It’s been decided that no proposal of Govt will be accepted until and unless they repeal the laws. In tomorrow’s meet (with government) we’ll say that we’ve only one demand, repeal the laws and legally authorise MSP. All these have been unanimously decided,” farmer leader Joginder S Ugrahan told ANI news agency.
The next round of meeting has been scheduled for January 22.
