49 Oppn MPs suspended from Parliament today, 141 suspensions so far

In a dramatic turn of events, the suspension of 79 Opposition MPs in a single day has been exacerbated by an additional 49 members facing same action today. This escalates the total tally of suspended MPs this session to an astounding 141, setting a new record for the highest number of suspensions in parliamentary history.

The new suspended leaders include NC leader Farooq Abdullah, Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Karti Chidambaram and NCP Supriya Sule.

Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm today as Opposition MPs continued their protests over their suspension and pressing for a statement from PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on the Parliament security breach.

MPs showed placards and shouted slogans like, “PM sadan mein aao. Gruh mantri istifa do (Prime Minister attend the assembly session. Home Minister resign).”
